I already see the forum mods ragequitting thanks to all the idiots which you directed from the blog to the forum by writing this, lolol.

    • Alblaka says:

Jup, already deleted a couple of threads written by apparently blind people.

      • Gabriel says:

I’m a blind guy, and that comment offends me 😛

Just kidding. Now back to fix that crater my Nuclear Reactor made…

      • Sir Pickles says:

Hmmm, may I suggest you hire more staff?

        Or a minigun.

Or get Scotty to beam them out?

Now for the derp part: may I suggest robotic utility mobs?

*sniped in da face*. Ow…..lol. Just had to say that…..hmm….

Excuse me, I’m going to download an enterprise map and use IC2 teleporters so it can beam to places!

GREAT job, whether or not there are bugs, its a great accomplishment.

Mostly people get ID-conflicts because mojang yet again took away some blockIDs. I cannot even count the amount of error-reports in the RP-thread because 116 is now a vanilla ID, and if you write they should save their old world (because… whatever 116 was may turn into… brewing-stand? no idea what vanilla 116 actually is) and delete RP-folder the next one asks the same question, even if the answer is one post above.

Actually ID-conflicts are one of the easiest things to figure out, but still people ask questions. Also the parse-error^^. If you tell people to use wordpad instead of notepad to edit config-files the next one asks two posts later the same question.

Then there are people installing older versions over MC 1.0 etc. It is almost impossible in the MC-Forum to actually talk about the mod in most threads, because every third post is an error-report and in most cases without a spoiler-tag so that you have to scroll over the whole error-log…

So thats mainly why I totally understand how they do it. And I really admire eloraam for her patience, as she at least answers almost every person who is unable to search for solutions (well… in most cases she just say they should search, at least if the actual solution is more to type). On the other hand i totally understand why you do not want to do that. Maybe you should hire some kind of masochist in your team who takes care of the MC-Forum-Thread *g*

(I guess you filter the most stupid requests by asking people to put their questions in the forum, because that as quite an effort they need to take^^).

Haha, yeah my biggest pet peeve is the spoiler thing. No one ever puts it in spoilers. Well, that is if they include an error log at all. Many just say “it doesn’t work, help me”. I usually don’t hear from them again when I tell them to post an error log, not that I actually miss such idiots. Even had one guy give me a detailed step-by-step picture trail of how he installed Railcraft. Starting, of course, with the link he pirated Minecraft from. That one made me laugh. He even used spoiler tags, but was still an idiot.

The best solution I’ve found is to create custom exceptions for predictable crashes that explain how to fix the problem instead of printing a stack trace. Once I do that, people generally don’t ask for support for those issues. Though that might be because the error reports generally imply that the user was an idiot for not following instructions properly. Doubt many people would want to post something like that. =P

        As in:
        Error404UserIntelligenceNotFoundException?

        • Nerox says:

I could swear I’ve gotten that error on my mod_DirtPickaxe.java file.

          Loljk.

        • Sir Pickles says:

I think that error is more of a virus that’s spreading. I think we need to get like preachers and priests to teach people intelligence now, since to them apparently it seems like a foreign religion.

      • Bluehorazon says:

Na or they somehow screw the linebreaks and make the whole log a mess. Normally I try to help them. 1.0.0 takes even more BlockIDs for vanilla-items there are some conflicts. Normally you could just delete the old configs and save your world (and then watch how you have lots of enchantment-tables in your world (RP timer, gates all turned into enchatnment-tables, at least I guess they had ID 116).

The fixes for most problems are already existing you just have to spend a little bit time searching them. And even if you don’t want to do it the basic checks should be done (correct versions… a common problem). And if this doesn’t help they should at least post their problem in a sufficient way.

Can we flood it with Daffy Duck quotes?

“Mine mine mine! Down down down! Mine mine mine!” 🙂
“I may be a craven little coward, but I’m a greedy craven little coward” ^.^

  7. Samuel Ciraulo says:

thank you ablaka i love you no homo no homo XD.

    • Alblaka says:

I dislike people stating “no homo”. It implies they’re afraid of having their comment missunderstood, indicating they either dislike homosexual people or are afraid of being associated with them.
No offense intended, but we’re not in 17th century anymore :O
