Hot hotfix news

We’ve found the issue for some Detector cable malfunctions.

As well using the MC method for determining sun-visibility was a crappy idea… it’s kinda tricky, but we found out how to use it correctly. I should have insisted on not using it at all, though.

Hotfix will be inbound after i’ve taken care of some more issues. Probably this will take ~a few hours, though.
PS: Took care of armor pieces recharging themselves.

Take your time, now that 1.337 is out, theres nothing to rush for (yet.)

While various things will slowly drain if I login; I can wait for solars later tonight or tomorrow.

PS can you quickly toss in a texture update for the ‘off’ luminators such that they have a visibly darker area for the lighting element(s)? It would be /much/ easier to tell that they are off if that were the case.

Are there any date style plans for re-adding the Field Generator? I can’t find any mention of it on this blog, and the wiki simply states that it’s not in IC2 yet.
Yet implies that it will be eventually, right?

    • Alblaka says:

Given the IC1 forcefield was a pile of crap regarding code quality we didn’t yet work on a concept how to do it right this time.
I’m considering to use the holographic forcefield addon though, it appears to be extremely solid and well-done.

      • TheBoozehammer says:

It is very good and I believe you should use it.

        • Makashi says:

Is/was it different from the Modular ForceField addon? Cause, MFF seems to be updated from the Holographic one.
But it seems confusing, so I’m going to wait until it’s an official part of IC2 or there’s videos explain usage.

May I suggest making the water not get destroyed by it (but lava still should), and maybe you could just simply make it repelPlayerEntity or something like that, and then do the same with mobs. That might make coding easier with something like that I think….

Oh great, now we won’t be on version Leet anymore. What a shame ;D

  5. Christian says:

Hi Albalka Its great to hear your fixing the solar panel Issue my dependency on solar power is killing me :/

Also did you purposely change the recipe to create generators so that they can only be made with cobble furnace+machine block+RE battery I didn’t see anything on the changelog.

    (IE Iron furnace+Refined Iron+RE Battery doesn’t work anymore …….. I made 32 iron furnace before I updated 🙁 )

When doing the Pump next to a Compressor trick to make snowballs, the snowballs can stack… Well, I’m at 160+ now.

  7. Christian says:

My power grid just died 🙁

I’m going to have to use a normal pickaxe lol

  8. Maximized says:

Thanks for the hard work anyway, Alblaka. When reading stuff like “Why does Java code stop working in release, with the same coding working fine in test environments.”, it always puts a wide grin on my face as it’s SO familiar being a programmer myself. As if the laws of physics, logic and math seem to depend on the amount of people using the application and the pressure it brings.

Keep up the awesome work, I love your mod. IC2 feels like a very well-balanced and well-written mod with lots of potential.

    Suggestion: how about dyed luminators?

    • Alblaka says:

Dyed luminators wouldn’t have a real purpouse unless they would actually emit colored light. Which isn’t possible.

      • Maximized says:

True, but still it would be nice to have different colored luminators anyway, to indicate different functions throughout your machine/factory. The intrinsic light values are unfortunately limited by the (crappy) way MC’s light system was coded.

        • Max says:

Colored lights don’t work because the blocks only display their own color/s. How bright is dependent on the proximity and power of the light sources.

  9. Max says:

Fantastic! This is turning out amazing.

Please, before you update to 1.0, make sure everything is good and nothing is broken.

    Quality > rushed job
