Issues with Electric&IronFurnace GUI

Probably we didn’t consider new GUIIds for enchantment tables and brewing stand of Minecraft.

You need to change the GUIIDs for Electric&Iron Furnaces in the config for them to work properly.
This issue should exclusively affect SMP, as SSP runs without GUIIds.
Be warned, Client and Server need the SAME GUIIds or malfunctions can occur.

    Of course it’s one of the best mods thank you…

    I have just got a server up but am still a newb at being an admin, can you/ someone link to how to go about changing the GUIIDs please?

    • Bluehorazon says:

      in the .minecraft (where you place mods) folder there should be another folder called “config” you should find a config-file for IC2 there.

      Actually I have no idea to which IDs you should switch as some may collide with rp or bc.

      Client and Server-IDs need to match.

  2. Nerox says:

    There’s a “für” instead of a “for” in the second sentence. <:

  3. Sirbrandino says:

    Thanka for the heads up, and for saving many headaches.

  4. artist says:

    Damn, now every server admin will change it to different values!
    Can we have a hotfix please, so the ID changes are unified?

    • Alblaka says:

      Currently working in university. But yes, trivially this will be fixed in the next hotfix.
      And don’t worry, GuiIDs aren’t static as Block ones, you can freely exchange them without messing up saves.

      • oodain says:

        i love youf or posting that alblaka,

        was almost getting worried for my save there,
        hopefully the save will port without much trouble,
        if not i have a whole night of rebuilding infrastructure before oddworld can open.

  5. nroe1337 says:

    Thanks for always being on top of it Al,

    I’ve linked four or five people here already who are setting up 1.0 servers.

  6. Alblaka, thanks for info!

    Right now, there are these lines:
    guiIdIronFurnace=4
    guiIdElecFurnace=5

    to which ID could I changed it – let’s say
    guiIdIronFurnace=40
    guiIdElecFurnace=50
    is ok?

    • Alblaka says:

      Just typing these two zeros and then doubleclicking minecraft.exe takes more time then posting that sort of comment?

      I can’t exactly tell you which ID-ranges work outta my head.

      • Thanks

        With all respect to you work, you became a little bit arrogant these days, sir.

        • Alblaka says:

          Sorry if this offended you, but i seriously dislike people asking me “Will x with y and then z and q work?” instead of using the one minute to just try it. It’s not like you can kill yourself with a failed setup or stuff. Heck, given you’re smart enough to make a backup you cant even harm your saves.
          The best/worst one i’ve had so far was a guy giving me a list of 50 mods and asking me whether they would all work together at once.

          If people tried and couldn’t accomplish their aim and THEN ask, that’s something different, no doubt.

          Btw, is sarcasm/cynism => arrogant? :/

          • Hi,
            the line between these is pretty thin:)
            I understand you point, and don’t worry, I am far away from get into flamewar here:)

            IC2 worked good for me right from the start (SMP, w/ BC&RP), and even after the change, so my only doubt is “if I can’t see where it is broken right now, when it will pop out?”. So that’s where uncertainity began 🙂

        • Offboss says:

          I whole-heartedly agree. Alblaka needs to spend less time studying and doing good in university to help us with our menial problems that we are too lazy or stupid to handle ourselves. Also, he should start posting more humble comments like “I suck at modding.”

          I used both sarcasm and cynism there, but I am not arrogant nor do you consider me arrogant. Why? Because you aren’t aware of me being good at something. Just be thankful he even answered your question. If you follow his advice he will have saved you plenty of time in the future.

          • Offboss says:

            Edit: /rant/

          • Sir Pickles says:

            Aye, that’s a rant, but a good and noble rant.

            At least the 1.0 spammers will shut up now

            *1.1 is released* damnit, heed we go again… Lol

          • Alblaka says:

            Seriously? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

          • Sir Pickles says:

            Albaka, quickly, to the ANTI noob bunker (complete with enchanting room, alchemy lab, zombie dungeon with a small window and door for EXP gathering, and a lava trap outside the front door to kill any noob that approaches)!

      • ok let’s end it 🙂

        just one final word. I never ask before I try. IC2 works fine even with wrong numbers, until you want to use iron/electric furnace. Then it crashes.

        So, was there the info “this makes your game crash when you use furnace, then change guiigs until it works”, it would be clear.

        I am programmer, too, so I am far away from asking dumb questions. But please dont give me cynic/sarcastic answers.

        And yes, I agree that I should use the forum.

        • ok, in the end, the info is in the post, the point is it does take more then “Just typing these two zeros and then doubleclicking minecraft.exe”, you understand…

  7. Racerjj says:

    What Program should I use to View the config File?

    • Alblaka says:

      It’s coded in a basic text file, i doubt there’s a program that cannot open it (referring to all sorts of texteditors here, if you try WinAmp or PS, you’re retarded).

  8. Tucker882009 says:

    I just changed mine to the next opened IDs which for me was 33 and 34. Did that to the client and so far it works. I also have RP2, BC 2.2.7, Xie mod, and Railcraft .

  9. So, for all interested, working numbers are:

    guiIdElecFurnace=44
    guiIdIronFurnace=45

    change them in .minecraft/config/IC2.cfg and, if you use server, in config/IC2.cfg

    Confirmed to be working on SMP with IC2 1.42, BC 2.2.7, RedPower2 PR4

  10. necrobard says:

    I was trying to do this fix on my friend’s server and ran into a problem. I opened his config file, however he did not have any of the GUIIDs listed in his config file. I tried adding the lines under the “general” section of the config like how it is on my client, however that didn’t seem to work as after I restarted the server we were still having the same issues.

    Does the server config file differ from the client one? Should those GUIIDs be under a different section in the server config file?

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    • Alblaka says:

      Just delete the config file and start the server / MC once to generate a new one. Most likely his one was out of date.

      • Zoramak says:

        We got the same problem on a vanilla server
        changed the ids on server and client
        crashed also by trying to craft the iron furnace
        deleted both config
        tried again
        same crash
        any suggestion?
