Geez, i think MCF is slowly dropping down. :O
Just found a 3-page long flamewar in the Modding section about a (admittedly crappy) mod merely messing with texture models. Either way, the thread is open for quite some time now, but not yet moderated. In another thread I found people plainly spamming the thread consecutively, nothing done either.
To quote a quite amusing taunt from FreeAllegiance: “Did the IQs drop sharply while I was away?”
Kinda glad we moved out to an own site weeks ago :3
@Progress:
Those reading actively in the forum probably noticed i started coding the Electronic system. So far, most of the background engine is done (energy management, processor assignment, Block-code, etc). Now “merely” I need to code all base commands in, add custum command support and then create the GUI.
Depending on how much time university will drain, this may very well take a few more weeks to finish up, though, don’t bother your F5 keys ^^
Btw, did i mention the name of the OperatingSystem running on the IC Electronics? > Albos :3
*slow p..
nope i’m not going to do that again.
“Don’t bother your F5 key”
That’s like some reverse psychology….it…it..its like “HEY BRO! COME AT ME!”
Nah, but seriously…That makes me want to F5 even more.
“Geez, i think MCF is slowly dropping down. :O”
Lol, thats the understatement of the century! “Slowly”, haha! Thanks, that made my day! =)
YES!!! was afraid that you wouldn’t make it anyways, since Eloraam also have implemented “electronics” in RP2, what a relief!!
Her mod is good, no doubt about that, but i would really prefer to keep using IC instead, since i’ve been along for hell of a long time. Please keep up the amazing work(this also goes to the team =D)!
um, am I completely missing something? What does Albos mean?
AlbOS
Alblaka Operating System
Oh, what an unimagineable coincedence :3
Better then MineOS!
I do preffer
[A]lblaka’s
[l]iterally
[b]rilliant
[O]peration
[S]ystem
Allmighty Dragon Lord Modderator approves of this. :3
Kinda sux that your nickname didn’t catch on 🙁
We should start using it again 😛
Can i hack it to run ubuntu so i can play minecraft in minecraft while playing minecraft? xD
Alblaka, it’s possible to manage signal I/O @ Albos ? Example: read redstone status from external port or set power to redstone? And what about energy flow counter on selected cable – it will be possible to create simple satistics? (time+array).
I will code a basiy syntax permitting you to “if redstone input on block x from side y is active, then output redston on blobk z side a”.
As well i intend to create some sort of data management, in which you could compare values and of course store values over time.
Perfect! no more qeustions, just keep working on it! good luck! 🙂
I read in a blogpost that you were thinking about a data storage system/block for your system you’re coding.
So after reading the question from Az01 an idea came to life. Would you make it so that we can define our own functions in the Albos. So we have the option to reuse some code that we may or may not have coded before.
This would mean that we the players can expand the OS with our own creations and store these in the storage type you were thinking of.
A next step would be that you could trade these little code snippets on a smp server or so. I can imagine that some people would be very good at this. For example if they write something for controlling a reactor or something like that. They could choose to sell the code.
Just an idea ^^. ( English is not my native language. If i’m not talking very clear, blame it on that )
You buy a something for controlling a reactor (with virus) run it……BOOOOOOOOOOM
This is not good idea. 😀
Yeah, i did not think of that :p. So that’s not going to happen. But i think that sharing code inside the game still needs to be a feature.
I suggest capitalizing the OS 😉
AlbOS looks sexier than Albos
AlDBos cause you are 😀
Hmmm.
Would it be possible to craft an “activity reader”, which is a simple electric circuit, which exists in 2 forms. Once the “Send redstone signal when machine is active” and “Send redstone signal when machine is inactive”.
But to get the circuit into the machine, you’d have to rightklick it on a machine so it will insert. Just like the blueprints of the terraformer.
That way you could configure which machine when sends redstone signals.
AlbOS, is that like GlaDOS? Are we going to end up with an IC2 Portal Clone?
Alblaka, I think you should do progress reports regularly. If you do it helps people get more interested and I think you will get much more feedback. Just a suggestion, but I hope you use it.
I’m just curious, is there a chance that this system could be something that can be turned on or off in a config?
