Upcoming release v1.33 (hopefully)

Actually I intended to make the next release aout a few days ago, but crapload of fixes = crapload of new bugs popping up = requiring crapload of refixes = ruining time schedules.

Ntm i spent 7 hours today describing how an entirely unimportant user would use an entirely unimportant system, in an unimportantly detailed matter, blargh, sucky study project. Hate documents.

Either way, we’re on 1.32 and only got 3 new bugs listed. Guess it will be 1.33, if everything runs smoothly, tomorrow… Thus, assume it will be within the next 3 days (because it never runs smoothly)
PS: for version 1.8 of MC, ofc

  1. No-Superman10 says:

Ugh, I made the stupid decision of updating MC, now I have to wait ages for either MCNostalgia to get updated or all IC2 to get updated to 1.0.

    GUH.

  2. RS5 says:

This is my first post but I am a long time fan of IC, you’ve done a great job.

I’ve been thinking about how albOS could take in data from external sources. Here are a few suggestions for sensors that would be useful: “powered by redstone = true/false”, “player on block or in defined area = true/false”, “mob on block or in defined area = true/false”, “EUs in a batbox/MFE/MFS > or or < than player defined number" and a special wire that can be set to test if EUs are going through and/or how many EUs are going through and give the feedback to the system.

I hope this helps you come up with ideas for albOS

    • RS5 says:

Also my guess on the secret project is a flying base that can be used to travel to the moon/other planets which have new ores that you can use to make weapons to fight off the robots that inhabit the moon/a planet.

    • Alblaka says:

      Redstone is already coded.
“mob/player in area” = Pressure Plate = Redstone
EU will have an interaction via a specific Electric Block acting as a MFE + CPU interface.

  3. Grendich says:

    nice one πŸ™‚

but i hoped you would change your mind and maybe stick with 1.0 instead of 1.8

like many of the new things in 1.0 like new sounds/alchemy/some actual snow biome.

  4. Indras says:

Any chance we’ll be getting a portable method to recharge the mining laser? Like an upgrade to the batpack using energy crystals? The mining laser is pretty useless atm imo, it dies way too quick to use on mining trips.

    • Alblaka says:

Yes, it’s called Lappack, consisting of Batpack + tons of Lapis Lazuli

      • Indras says:

        Awesome, now I’m excited!

        • Techmago says:

          Realy?
Right now i maintain a lof of lasers and my goal with then is mainly blowing mountains. So it will have other uses too?

      • Clearshot says:

Wow that sounds soo fun πŸ˜› Moderncraft server has the big trees from redpower, mining laser + big tree = lots of rubber wood, 8 shots = about 8 stacks of wood, turned into charcoal and burn in generator thats 2mill EU πŸ˜› damn a lappack would make that even more awesome

  5. imer says:

i still want combustable lemons πŸ™

  6. Nathan says:

Been wondering how albOS is to be implemented and what it is capable of doing. Specifically a computer to be able to remotely control a nuclear reactor. An ability to run scripts to turn the reactor off if it gets too hot.

    • Bluehorazon says:

I actually noticed that combining rp2, bc and ic2 really makes fun but has it’s drawbacks. You could greatly decrease your performance and not only if your pipes leak items.

AlbOS sounds funny, but i hope it won’t decrease performance. Actually quite some things happen in my MC-World every tick. I really don’t know how much calculation is needed for EU and all the working machines. So i liked to read that your team also works on performance (obviously exspecially with 1.0.0 in mind).

I really like new features, but performance becomes an issue too. In SSP, but even more on a crowded SMP-Server. So i hope that even many CPUs working on AlbOS will fit.

      • Alblaka says:

Albos shouldn’t take too much CPU. Though, with librarys coded in, users could write RIDICOLOUSLY long commands… which would of course cause massive CPU-spikes once Albos parses them.

        • Ranakastrasz says:

I dont suppose it would be possible to make it parse over a number of ticks, so as to spread the work over a few seconds, or possibly longer, Kinda like this.
          http://xkcd.com/303/

          • melis256 says:

            Hah, awesome xD

          • GrandKaiser says:

Unfortunatly, thats not how processors work, nor is it how XKCD intended. Compiling is done at the processor level and cannot be interrupted until its complete. Even in the comic, they are waiting on the computers to compile massive amounts of code, not waiting on a paused or delayed compile. (which gives me reason to feel that you simply wanted an excuse to post a link to that comic.)

          • Alblaka says:

Nope, that would make the already extremely-complex (from my point of coding knowledge) code even more complex.
It will “act” like it’S parsing and performing in real-time, but it won’t (in reality).

  7. Luingar says:

Are you never going to update for 1.0.0? I REALLY want to slay the enderdragon with lazours and such..

  8. Shane says:

PS: for version 1.8 of MC, ofc

    because 1.0.0 isn’t out or anything ><

love your mod, along with buildcraft and redpower… but yall got to get off your collective *ss's –

    • Union says:

Sure… how about YOU update Forge to 1.0.0, and then the mod might be able to move to that next version of Minecraft…

(ffs, use your damn brain before you type…)

  9. John says:

Can you include release a Changelog? I’m curious.

  10. TheBoozehammer says:

I can’t say I agree with you staying on 1.8.1. Notch has said that full updates will be less frequent, but more pre-releases. None of us expect you to release for pre-releases, so I think you should soon switch over.

  11. Dragoone says:

    ok now im rather ticked….

where are the new computer(s) so i can start building a fully functioning industrial plant complete with nuclear reactor control room!

  12. GrandKaiser says:

Secret project is duplex macerator like the induction furnace :0

  13. DancingShadow says:

Is it possible for you to do (unsupported) dev builds? I mean I understand that you don’t want the flood of support based chatter, but won’t the community find more bugs?

If its semi buried behind appropriate disclaimers I’d like to think that we can handle a dev build…

  14. Nakis says:

Hrm, super piston. Sticky. Put an iron block on top of it, and it cycles. Each eycle it pumps. Each pump causes it to pump up like a regular piston (Maybe throw?). But, it can be made to extend, so it shoves the block two spaces and brings it back down.

Why? For huge piston traps, to push other stuff, to look cool. And so you can say “Looks like my machines Gibbl’d all over your face” when you crush their puny bodies in your MACHINES OF INDUSTRY. Silly zombie, Industry is for people with brains in their skull, not their mouth.

  15. Corey says:

nice 1 cant wait for the update. IC2, RP2 and BC are biggest and best out there so keep up the good work and cant wait to see what new goodies you add in the future.

  16. Clearshot says:

i take it you intend to update to 1.0 eventually? or later than 1.0 depending how long it takes

  17. Techmago says:

I was just reading the mc 1.0 change log and i see some pretty interesting thing:
    * Fixed paintings being lit wrong
    * Changed armor calculation
    * Fixed paintings being lit incorrectly

First: the fixed the paintings twice? I bet that the first fix it and the second break it again.

Second. Armor calculation? i am predicting headaches when you try port the nano/quantum armor.

  18. Nebula says:

It would be nice to increase the maximum number of coins in your IC ATM. Limit of 64 coins is not about anything! Please make this correction in a future update.

    Sincerely, LaserServer.ru

    • Alblaka says:

Limit of 64 Coins is hardcoded by MC itself. Surpassing it causes annoying issues upon item-display and exspecially corrupts inventorys upon reloading a world.

      • Nebula says:

Thanks for the quick response! I did not expect … πŸ™‚
Another question, or suggestion, do not know how you otnensetes to him …
It is possible to add to your mod flashlight or night vision goggles? It would be great!

      • Nebula says:

i think u should make new payment item, gold/platinum coin, 1 this coin= 64 iron coins, this is the best way to decide problem with shops i think

        • Daemonolog says:

I agree, and also a good idea to introduce a miner’s helmet – helmet with a flashlight

  19. Xelanthol says:

Where is it where is it! (Although I am assuming things didn’t run smoothly, I’m still hoping)

    • VoraciousPuma says:

I’m hoping too, but it’s probably more chunky than smooth right now.

    • Alblaka says:

      Didn’t.
Software-Project kept my busy since Friday, don’T have enough time to do anything serious next to it. Kinda sucks, but we’ll probably finish this part today, leaving me team to finally update IC this evening / tomorrow.

  20. AnnaMayBelle says:

Alblaka, you should be using 1.0, screw that Forge noise! albOS should be in this version! Work faster! 1.0! 1.0! 1.0! *whipcracks*

…Just kidding, please don’t kill me! XD I’m just blown away by how much of a sense of entitlement I see here… So many people acting like you owe it to the community to have finished things faster. I really want to thank you for being so patient with your community, I know we can get antsy and be a bit of a pain sometimes, but it’s just because you’ve made such a darn good mod. ^^

    • Mukrakiish says:

Agreed. Alblaka and the Team have done fantastic work and should not feel pressured in any fashion to get anything done faster than they see fit. They know best since the creation that sits before us is the product of their testing, creativity and planning.

Take your time. The extra polish is always worth it =)

      • Alblaka says:

Actually i’m not polishing it, but investing LOADS (seriously, 5 day’s afternoons + free mornings + evenings in a row) of time for my Software-Project. But we’re finally done now (exspected workload left for tomorrow is 3 hours + spellcheck) thus i hope to release the next IC within tomorrow or the day after. Depends on how much there is to test in the new sub-version and whether we need intensive betatests.

  21. Remuthra says:

thats a very nice imminent release you have there O.o

  22. hellsproninja says:

any updates on mcforge or smp modloaders? i havent really had time to search around because ive been so busy lately and cant find any spare time lol. if there are any updates for mcforge, and its completed for 1.0.1/1.0.0, any idea how long it will take to update ic2, even though the bug fixes atm could take from an hour to a month? 😑

  23. hellsproninja says:

any updates on mcforge and ic2 for 1.0.0? i know forge has to be release before ic2 can be updated but ive been way too busy lately to keep up on whats going on. i saw that

    Are we getting there?”
and im just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to when ic2 or even mc forge will be ready for 1.0.0 or 1.0.1? πŸ˜›

  24. Old guy says:

Just wanted to thank you and your team for making this mod. It is by far one of the best mods out there! Thank you!

  25. Michael says:

My gods…. after the number of 1.0 seekers who seem to be perpetually unable to /read/ anything I can see why you dare not release alpha versions. Thank you ever so much everyone else for not even constructively griping or trying to think of what might be wrong. (Also sorry from me for all the guesses I make based on my observations and not even trying to look at the source.)
